An Icon from the Past Resurfaces: The Skindiver Chronograph

In 2023, Vulcain brought back one of its most iconic dive watches, the Skindiver Nautique, a model that left its mark on the watchmaking landscape of the 1960s. But the story didn't end there. Few knew that, at the time, the manufacture based in Le Locle had also developed a chronograph version of this tool watch. Drawing on its rich archives and watchmaking heritage, Vulcain has revived the Skindiver Chronograph, preserving the distinctive character of the original timepiece while incorporating modern watchmaking expertise.

A Vintage-Inspired Chronograph with Modern Performance

The Skindiver Chronograph stays true to the aesthetic codes of vintage dive watches while incorporating modern technical advancements. Its 39.7 mm stainless steel case, featuring a vertically brushed finish, combines durability with balanced proportions on the wrist. Equipped with a knurled bidirectional rotating bezel and black ceramic insert, the design pays tribute to the original models of the 1960s. The Red & White and Red & Black editions introduce bold colour contrasts while retaining the distinctive character of the Skindiver Chronograph. Super-LumiNova-coated indices ensure excellent legibility, while the ETA 7753 automatic chronograph movement delivers reliable mechanical performance. The dial also features a decimal scale, allowing elapsed time to be expressed in hundredths of a minute. The exhibition caseback features sapphire crystal and engraved technical markings, revealing the decorated movement and its oscillating weight engraved with the Vulcain logo.

A Vintage-Inspired Chronograph in Two Variations

The Skindiver Chronograph is available in two new colour variations, each offering a distinctive interpretation of its vintage-inspired design. The Red & White edition combines bold red accents with contrasting white details, creating a fresh and dynamic aesthetic. The Red & Black version offers a sportier expression, pairing striking red elements with darker tones for a more pronounced contrast. Both versions retain the distinctive character of the original Skindiver Chronograph, combining the functionality of a mechanical chronograph with the timeless appeal of a vintage dive watch. Available with a choice of three strap options — Vintage Steel Bracelet, Integrated Rubber and Bead of Rice — each model offers versatility while remaining faithful to Vulcain's watchmaking heritage.
